what I'd like to do today.

I would like to go apple picking:

I would like to read this book:

I would like my desk to be adorable and organized like this:

I don't think any of those things are going to happen. Oh well. Today is still a good day!

Happy Thursday!

halloween.

My birthday is on October 31st, or as it's better known to everyone else, Halloween.

I'm kind of wishing I was still 8 years old so I could get away with sending out birthday party invitations from Rifle Paper Co. like this:

Also adorable? This:

This:

And this:

Maybe I can still get away with it.

Happy Tuesday!

fall.

Goodness. I love fall. Name something about fall, and I love it.
I love the crisp air, school supplies, pumpkin, apples, colorful trees, scarecrows, hot drinks, boots, tights, sweaters, scarves, the color orange, corn mazes, bonfires, halloween...really, I could go on forever.

Here's the sad news: even though it's September, it's not fall in Chattanooga yet. It was a not-so-crisp 87 degrees today. Much too warm for tights and bonfires. It's slightly devastating.

But I'm doing my best to transition into the season even though the weather outside is not wanting to cooperate.

I'm working on some more crochet projects! I have a friend who will be having a baby in the spring [therefore = baby blanket!] and I'm stocking up on hand warmers and computer cases to give as gifts [sorry friends, now you know what you're getting...] I also just frankly want to put some yarn in a vase...

My boyfriend and I are going to see Sufjan Stevens with our dear friends, the Morrises in Atlanta. We aren't going until November, but the tickets just came in the mail and made me very excited.

In other news, I'm not very good at ice skating.

Hooray for fall!

back.

So it's been a while.
I feel like it's an understatement to say my life has changed.
So much has happened!

I have an amazing job now as an Associate Publisher at True North Custom Publishing. This was my first week working full time. This is going to be QUITE an adjustment. If I wasn't addicted to coffee before, I certainly am now.

I also have a pretty swell boyfriend. Another big adjustment, but an OH so pleasant one! Much more on that later, I'm sure.

My weekend involves IKEA and Cheesecake Factory and family and sleep.
I couldn't be more thrilled.

soccer & crafts

We're big World Cup watchers in my house.

Right now we're all sitting around watching Uruguay and Ghana battle it out.

I love it.

Also, I'm researching crochet/knitting/crafts in general projects.

Happy Weekend!

thanks, canada...[eh?]

First of all, today is Canada Day. So, thank you Canada for all you've done for us.

I love this weekend already. I have tomorrow AND Monday off work - so I have lots of time to celebrate Canada and America on both their celebratory day. Growing up, 4th of July was ALMOST my favorite holiday (Thanksgiving still kind of edges it out...although I'm not exactly sure why. More on that thought when it's November, I guess). I think the reason I loved it so much was it meant PIE.

Sweet, sweet PIE.

And not just ANY kind of pie, award-winning pie.

When I lived in Michigan, my family lived in a small town that hosted an International Cherry Festival every 4th of July. It was a VERY big deal. Included in the International Cherry Festival festivities was a Pie Baking Contest. One year, my mother won the grand prize. It wasn't surprising (she's very, VERY good with food), but it did give us a recipe (that she apparently and believably threw together the morning of the contest) to dub Grand-Prize Winning Cherry Pie.

It's divine.

And I get to eat some on Sunday.

I can't wait.

In other news, here's a picture of the lovely bride and groom, Kim & Doug, from their Vermont wedding last weekend. Their photographer, Ashley McCormick, is amazing to say the least!
